Project Overview: Craig Technologies National, Inc. (BNI), Craig Technologies’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and/or night shift pending project needs. Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; the successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable. Job Summary: Assigned to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Construction organization in a Construction Electrical Field Engineering/Electrical Code Inspector position. Responsibilities are to ensure assigned UPF Electrical based commodities comply with NFPA 70-2014. The Electrical Inspector will require a working knowledge of construction engineering practices. #LI-CL1 In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Major Responsibilities: Work Planning & Packaging Prepares construction drawings and sketches. Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans. Material Management Initiates requisitions for field purchases. Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. Quantities Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. Safety / Quality Control Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities. System Turnover Coordinator Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development. Reviews and approves inspection test plans. Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Candidate shall have a current certification as a National Electric Code Inspector and a working knowledge of current design codes and standards, such as NFPA 70-2014. Certification must be ICC “Commercial or IAEI “General” and provide a copy of the certification. Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required. Must have a working knowledge of the Craig Technologies Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and the related Craig Technologies Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and be able to work well in a team environment. Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects. Knowledge of Craig Technologies’s “Zero Accidents” safety program. Familiarity with nuclear quality and commercial practice standards is beneficial. Recent commercial nuclear experience at a Craig Technologies EPC Project. Recent experience as an Electrical Field Engineer. Experience in reviewing field drawings/plans of different disciplines and may include P&ID’s.
