Job Description **Job Purpose:** We are looking to hire a UNIX System Engineer II to support our UNIX systems. You will be required to work on-site or via remote connection to install new hardware/software, respond to user requests/incidents, troubleshoot server issues, monitor ongoing systems performance, and lead projects. To ensure success, you should have extensive UNIX knowledge, good problem-solving skills, and high-level interpersonal skills. **Essential Functions:** + Install, manage, and upgrade UNIX systems + Manage UNIX user accounts and access + Create and manage backup/recovery policies + Patch management + Establish and implement UNIX best practices + Rack and stack physical hardware + Respond to support requests and escalations from the Helpdesk via tickets + Lead projects **Education:** Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology preferred **Experience:** 3 years of UNIX experience **Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:** + Red Hat Certified System Administrator preferred + Red Hat Certified Engineer preferred **Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) + Knowledge of HPUX + Knowledge of Solaris OS and LDOM + Knowledge of VMware + Familiarity with firewalls, routers, switches, VLAN, VPN + Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, and load balancer concepts + Familiarity with cloud based infrastructure, automation, and middleware + Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues + Ability to travel and work after hours support/On-Call when necessary + Excellent interpersonal skills + Good written and oral communication skills required to communicate action items taken to resolve IT-related issues to end-users in terms easily understood + Ability to lift 50 pounds + HDL is required **Supervisory Responsibility:** No Supervisory Responsibility
