We are looking for a dedicated Unit Secretary Med Surg like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** The Unit Secretary contributes to high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of clerical tasks. The Unit Secretary functions as receptionist for the unit and assists the patient care team while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. **What you will do in this role:** Under the direct supervision of the Manager Outpatient Rehabilitation Services and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions: 1. Greets patients and visitors to the department, signs them in and notifies appropriate person of their arrival. 1. Receives and processes referrals. 1. Schedules appointments for evaluation visits, follow-ups, etc. 1. Gives patient instructions about what to bring, what to wear and location of department. Confirms date and time and the therapist the patient will be seeing. 1. Completes the registration process, explains applicable policies to patient and assists them with paperwork. 1. Answers the telephone and assists caller, takes a message and/or routes the call to the appropriate person. 1. Coordinates booking meetings and assists in preparing meeting spaces. Coordinates departmental and hospital correspondence. 1. Opens and discharges medical charts for use and handles the filing of loose papers in medical records. Copies medical records and other information as requested. 1. Copies therapists' daily schedules and creates billing sheet. 1. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or requested. **What qualifications you will need:** Education: + High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: + Previous experience in a health care setting and word processing skills preferred.
