Job Title: Unit Clerk (Temporary - Full Time)

Location: Canton Potsdam Hospital
Hours Per Week: 40 hours (Per Diem)
Schedule: Variable days; 8 hour shifts 6:30 am to 2:30 pm; every other weekends and holidays
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director, Manager, or their delegate, supports the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of nursing unit activities. The Unit Clerk performs clerical and receptionist duties while maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs various clerical tasks including organizing patient information, maintaining unit records, answering phones professionally, managing office supply inventories, and handling faxing and photocopying needs.
Accurately records physicians' orders, dietary requirements, and medication details in patient charts and medical records as needed.
Welcomes visitors, provides directions, answers inquiries, and refers them to appropriate nursing or physician staff.
Provides administrative support and communicates necessary information to nurses, providers, and other departments.
Arranges patient discharges and transfers by coordinating with transport services and ensuring proper documentation.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment by following infection prevention policies and institutional procedures.
May assist with transporting patients in wheelchairs to various locations within the facility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Medical terminology

PAY RANGE:
$18.09 - $26.26The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
