Position Summary:

The front desk clerk is responsible for greeting patients and directing them to the waiting room for Cardiopulmonary, Radiology and Laboratory. They also schedule and coordinate patient procedures with the Imaging Department, check procedure diagnosis to meet medical necessity, answer phones and other general customer service responsibilities. Specific tasks include:

Answers phones for polite and professional manner and places on hold unless he/she can help in a timely manner. Can differentiate, explain, and understand the difference between radiology/laboratory/and cardiology orders Checks and maintains patient food and fridgeStocks linen carts and blanketsMaintains general cleanliness and safe work environment throughout the department and waiting roomPerforms office/clerical functions of the department. Knowledge of computer system including burning CD's, fax machines, power share, etc.Actively participates in achieving department satisfaction scores to exceed national normsUnderstands the Release of Information Ability to look up resultsTracks patient wait time and alerts department if wait time is more than 10-15 minutes. Explains the reason for wait times to patients.Makes discharge and consent packetsprovides instructions to patient for Mylicon prepsWill alert Cardiopulmonary when patients arrive for their appointments

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent requiredSkills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires strong computer and internet research skills. Also calls for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days or hire upon expiration of BLS there will be a 60-day window to renew.
