D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Underwriting Counsel. The right candidate will will be responsible for analysis of risk, research, interaction with agents, and making decisions on insurability of titles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Make risk adverse, common sense underwriting decisionsRespond in a timely manner, to underwriting inquiries from agentsResearch, analyze, and interpret statutes, regulations and opinions, court rulings by utilizing professional legal and compliance publications Identify issues, establish transactional facts, apply legal principles and underwriting guidelines to reach a timely decision Provide analysis and guidance on relevant federal and state statutes and regulations, court rulings, opinion letters to the agent networkResearch/update new/changing laws/statute/regulations that could affect the risk of the company and communicate those effectively to agentsParticipate in the agent underwriting review processSupport agency with recruitment process and retention of agentsSupport Claims Department with state law analysis and state practicesParticipate on cross-functional teams Responsible for creation and presentation of educational and underwriting materials for employees and agentsPrepare bulletins, alerts, memoranda, and other agent communicationsConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightSupervisory Responsibilities
