ResponsibilitiesThe Large Account Underwriter is a member of our Large Account underwriting team. Our Large Account team underwrites accounts of significant size and technical complexity. Our industry focus includes, but is not limited to: Restaurants, Last Mile Delivery, Auto Aftermarket, and Fitness.

The role’s primary responsibility will be to manage their assigned book of business. In addition, you will contribute to our underwriting direction, evaluate individual account profitability, collaborate with our staff underwriting team on product enhancements, and work on projects that help drive the Underwriting department forward. You will also have the opportunity to contribute and explore new insurance products and new business segments as Intrepid continues to grow and evolve.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
Underwrite accounts per letter of authority - new and renewal, with minimal direction.Profitably underwrite their assigned book of businessUtilize various underwriting tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics, accurate classifications, insurance to value, develop pricing, etc.Contribute to the refinement of underwriting processes and workflowsGain deep expertise in our targeted business segments.Support underwriting team on projects as neededCollaborate with our sales, client services, and actuarial teamsExecute underwriting strategy and follow established underwriting guidelines.Meets or exceeds performance requirements on UW File Review AuditsInteracts continuously with all levels of employees of various departmentsSupport underwriting team on projects as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceUnderwriting experience - minimum of 2 years as a company underwriter specifically in commercial property and casualty underwritingHas underwritten new and renewal business with success in achieving growth and profitabilityBackground using data analysis to guide underwriting philosophy and decisionsMulti-line commercial background including Property, Liability, Automobile, Umbrella, Workers Compensation, and BOPsKnowledge underwriting “main street” classes of businessBuild sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communicationLarge account underwriting experience or line of business expertise a plusCPCU, AU and/or other related professional designations preferred/ current progress underwayThis role is based in our Overland Park, KS office.
