Westchester is seeking a detail-oriented Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and making timely decisions to ensure profitable growth while maintaining compliance with company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze insurance applications and evaluate risks associated with small business accounts in the E&S market. Determine appropriate rates, terms, and conditions for coverage based on risk analysis and market trends. Collaborate with brokers to gather necessary information, provide clarification, and negotiate terms and conditions. Utilize underwriting guidelines and company standards to make sound underwriting decisions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes affecting the E&S market. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders to promote effective communication and collaboration. Assist in developing and implementing underwriting strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives. Review and approve endorsements, audits, and other policy changes as necessary. Travel as needed for client meetings, training sessions, and industry eventsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree2-3 years underwriting experience Experience underwriting E&S Small business preferredExcellent Skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookDesired Qualifications:
Experience with multiple lines of insuranceUnderstanding of insurance principles, practices, and regulations related to E&S lines.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.Proven ability to assess risk and make informed underwriting decisions.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.Professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AU, or others) are a plus.
