Overview The Unbilled Specialist is responsible for providing support assistance to the Coding team. The Unbilled Specialist will investigate each unbilled account and provide assistance in escalation or resolution. The Unbilled Specialist analyzes the inpatient and outpatient Discharged Not Billed (DNB) daily and assigned EPIC work queues. Contacts the appropriate parties to expedite problem resolution as needed. Review discharge dispositions assigned on audit spreadsheets and, when errors are identified, notifies coding managers and provides education to the coders. Communicates to the coding managers and director identified trends/patterns related to errors and edits. Qualifications Education High School Diploma/GED Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required Course in medical terminology or equivalent required. 3-5 years of experience with medical record related activities required; experience with DNB and/or coding/billing problem resolution preferred. Computer skills, able to prioritize tasks, handling of PHI or medical records required. Experience with electronic health record preferred. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience interacting with physicians preferred.
