The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high-quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate healthcare professional · Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol · Communicates with and educates patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam · Recognizes structures visualized and understands their significance · Accurately produces and records measurements according to protocols · Accurately conveys initial findings and clinical data to referring physicians and/or radiologists · Participates in creating a culture of patient safety · Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness for facility Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures · Ensures patient data integrity · Adheres to radiologic safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures · Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements., completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes · Follows infection control guidelines · Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members · Responds appropriately to emergent situations · Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving · Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances · Acts as a resource for problem-solving resolution · Assembles similar relevant exams and reports · Documents initial and ongoing data, interventions, responses/results, or interventions consistent with established policies/procedures/guidelines · Directly communicates abnormal results to care giver · Completed all require continuing education to uphold their imaging licensure Participates as an active team member · Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives · Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position · Cleans and maintains room and supplies · Provides integrated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care · Contributes to a positive work environment · Performs other duties as assigned Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines · Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working properly. · Maintains a high level of competency · Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility · Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations · Prepares and plans ahead to coordinate exams and organizes patient care to ensure quality and continuity of patient care · Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served **Qualifications** Required + Education at a level to be ARDMS registry eligible, including successful completion of sonography clinical requirements + ARDMS registered in one specialty or ARRT RT (S) registered within 90 days of employment + Basic Life Support - from American Heart Association or American Red Cross and current before date of hire Preferred + Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program + ARDMS registered in multiple specialties Additional Requirements: Understanding of current Minnesota Department of Health Regulations. Knowledge of quality control and safety standards.
