The successful candidate:

As an Ultrasonographer you will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and medical imaging technologists to accurately diagnose medical conditions and perform invasive procedures using the latest technologies.

Responsible for documenting notes in medical records as needed, including progress notes and patient education.

Displays proficiency in operating the Misys radiology information system to review patient imaging history, locate files, and monitor exam completion, including any additional charges, ensuring that exam completion is tracked.

Perform non-invasive ultrasound examination procedures, such as ensuring patients have followed pre-test instructions, acquiring diagnostic medical images, identifying artifacts or significant abnormalities, and distributing images to radiologists via PACS or printed film as a backup.

Demonstrates expertise in conducting interventional/invasive ultrasound-guided procedures, which includes compiling relevant past medical images and reports before the procedure.

Communicate the patient's history effectively to the radiologist, imaging nurse, and other team members.

Prepare and organize supplies for ultrasound-guided interventional procedures in the Imaging Department, maintain a sterile field in collaboration with nurses, radiologists, and technologists to minimize patient wait times and enhance department efficiency.

Partners with the Laboratory department to identify timeframes following infection control policies for delivery of specimens.

Education Requirements

Graduate of an approved school of medical ultrasonography with credentials in ultrasound (such as ARDMS-American Registry of Diagnostic Medical ultrasonographers)

At least 1 year of clinical experience in medical ultrasonography is required.

At least six months experience working with a medical doctor in performance of invasive ultrasound-guided procedures preferred.

Credentials beneficial, though not required, in any of the following fields: nursing, radiology, vascular or cardio-vascular.
