Job SummaryThe OBGYN department of Michigan Medicine seeks an experienced, ARRDMS certified Ultrasound Technician to perform Gynecologic ultrasounds, including assessment of pelvic anatomy i.e. uterine and ovarian, sonohysterograms, saline-infusion sonograms, as well as early first trimester obstetric ultrasounds for community-based clinical research projects. The Ultrasound Technician will serve as an integral member of a large Women's Health and Reproductive Disparities (onWHARD) research team and provide logistical support to the study on a daily basis in the field. The primary study that scans will be done is for ?Investigating Obesity and Adiposity-Induced Alterations to the Human Endometrium.? Scans could be performed for other research projects as needed.

Responsibilities*Study Procedures and Process Development
Independently perform transvaginal, abdominal, and saline-infusion sonogram ultrasound examinations per study protocols.Complete probe sterilization and machine cleaning between examinations.Responsible for image capture (still and cine), download and backup of images along with completing study documentation and forms per protocol.Monitor study participants during the ultrasound process; and communicate findings to chaperone/Clinical Study Associates as appropriate.Periodically present ultrasound images and findings to Principal Investigator for review, as appropriate.Track ultrasound machine and probe function; in coordination with Manager, manage service and maintenance.Support with tracking equipment inventory, required supplies, timely ordering, and re-stocking.Develop and update ultrasound guidelines and procedure manuals for projects assigned.Draft presentations on ultrasound techniques and processes as needed.Assist with all study-related compliance requirements.Able to be cross trained in other clinic support functions.When required, travel to events or clinics in SE Michigan to recruit, some flexibility with clinic visits.Study Reporting and Data Entry
Perform data entry and data cleaning tasks within the database.Under supervision, review collected data and perform data quality assurance of the collected data.Create reports on the completeness and quality of the collected data.Assist with preparing tables, charts, and graphs, and editing of manuscripts/presentations/sponsor reports.Required Qualifications*Graduation from an ultrasonography training program.Must have at least one-three years' experience in Gynecology ultrasounds. Must be ARRT and ARDMS accredited.Fluent computer skills in Outlook, Microsoft software applications (Office, Word, Excel).Good oral and written communication skills.The candidate should:Commit to a positive team culture and engage with colleagues in authentic relationships.Collaborate to deliver defined, measurable project outcomes.Be able to work independently when needed, as well as engage as part of a collaborative matrix team.Ability to prioritize tasks and be well organized.Desired Qualifications*Bachelor's or other degree in a related field.5-8 years' experience.Experience and/or ability to use databases (REDCap) and software.Previous experience or interest in research on Women's Health, Community Health, and Health Disparities.Interest in Community Engagement.Previous healthcare administrative or research experience.Spanish speaking abilities.Human Subjects Protection Training Completion (PEERRS, CITI, or other).Work ScheduleThis is a part-time, ~4-6 hour per week position primarily on weekdays. Rarely Saturday morning coverage might be required. Ultrasound procedures will primarily be performed at Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) in Briarwood. Rarely the participants could be scheduled at another Clinic (e.g. CHASS).
This is a grant-funded position with the position ending in August 2025, with the possibility of extension beyond that time.
Work LocationsThis position will be based administratively at 1500 E. Medical Center Drive in UH-South. The scans will be performed at the Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) at the Briarwood Mall primarily. Very infrequently and based on need, scans could be scheduled at a community-based clinic (e.g. CHASS), or at other clinics in southwest Michigan.
