Ultrasound Associate Director - Emergency Department, Corewell Health South - St. Joseph, MI
Envision Physician Services is seeking an Ultrasound Associate Director to join the Emergency Department team at Corewell Health South, located in Southwest Michigan. Responsibilities for the Ultrasound Associate Director of the Emergency Department Teaching: The Ultrasound Associate Director will: + Under the direction of the Program Director (PD), organize the educational activities of the residency ultrasound didactic curriculum. + Includes one monthly simulation session. + Teach EM residents and medical students consistent with the highest professionalism in emergency medicine while on-duty as the Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Corewell Health South. + Ultrasound Faculty supervision is required at a minimum of 3 days a week for at least 4 hours. + Personally deliver ultrasound specific lectures to the EM residents annually in the core curriculum and departmental lecture series. + Includes one monthly EM residency didactic session. + Serve as the director and mentor of residents entering in the Longitudinal Ultrasound Track + Supervise the scheduling of Emergency Medicine residents and students on the EM Ultrasound rotation by the EM manager/coordinator. Scholarly Activity: The Ultrasound Associate Director will: + Demonstrate active involvement in presentations, publications, and other scholarly activity in accordance with the Residency Review Committee's (RRC) Program Requirements for Programs in Emergency Medicine. + Serve as a mentor and principle supervisor for Emergency Medicine Residents wishing to conduct ultrasound research. + Demonstrate active involvement in continuing ultrasound medical education through maintenance of certification either through an accredited ultrasound fellowship or POCUS Emergency Medicine Certification. Any additional ultrasound specific certifications or maintenance of certifications will be at the discretion of Director of the Emergency Department and CAO. Administration: Develop and maintain required Ultrasound documentation: The Ultrasound Associate Director will: + Provide Quality Assurance (QA) on ultrasound images and the associated electronic health records documentation obtained in the Emergency Department as required by accrediting bodies, billing procedures and institutional policies. + Maintain and develop written interface technology policies/procedures for QA requirements. This includes EPIC, Infinitt, Ultrasound companies and any additional corporate technology suites. + Assure coding and billing requirements for documented ultrasound images. + Monitor and maintain documentation of ultrasound credentialling of EM faculty and residents. Leadership Participation: The Ultrasound Associate Director will: + Attend and participate in collaborative ultrasound specific meetings within Corewell Health. If unable to attend, it will be the responsibility of the director to appoint a designee to represent the emergency medicine ultrasound department. + Attend and participate in ultrasound specific medical education meetings within Corewell Health South. If unable to attend, it will be the responsibility of the director to appoint a designee to represent the emergency medicine ultrasound department. + Provide strategy and process improvements of the emergency medicine ultrasound department via bimonthly written communication or departmental meetings in which the Director of the Emergency Department, Chief Academic Officer or EM Residency Program Director are participating in. Evaluation/feedback methods The Ultrasound Associate Director will: + Coordinate written evaluations of resident and medical student performance on the ultrasound rotation. Provide specific feedback to residents as well as notify the PD when deficiencies have been identified. + Assist the Director of the Emergency Department and EM Residency Program Director in verifying satisfactorily completion of EM faculty and resident ultrasound specific requirements and certifications. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed by the Director of the Emergency Department and Chief Academic Officer (CAO).
