TUTOR (Three-year fixed term contract)

SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY

The School of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science invites applications for a position as tutor on a three -year fixed term contract. The purpose of this role is to provide first year chemistry tuition to small groups of earmarked students to strengthen their foundation in chemistry. The coordination and organization of these small classes, drawn from the range of first year courses offered by the school, is also needed. The applicant should have good knowledge of first year University chemistry as well as a track record of tutoring, assessment, and administration.

Qualifications

The required qualification is at least an MSc in Chemistry.

Minimum requirements

Chemistry teaching experience especially tutoring of small classes (typically 20 students).

Strong background across all first-year chemistry topics.

Expertise in development of materials for first year teaching (assessments, notes, lectures).

Excellent organisational and general management skills

Competency in learning management systems.

Duties

Overall responsibilities would include the teaching and coordination of small first-year chemistry groups as well as mentoring and advising first year chemistry students. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
