Material Handler As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision. Essential Functions & Requirements: + Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices + Loads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations + Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments + Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage + Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed + Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues + Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities + Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials + Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites + Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks + Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials + Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition + Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations + Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers + Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator + Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization Education: + High-school diploma or equivalent (required) Experience: + 1+ years of related experience (required) + 40 hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred) Competencies: + Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner + Working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations and general industry practices + Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts + Ability to lift up to 60lbs + Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, including a respirator + Regular and predictable attendance to perform the essential functions and requirements of this role Benefits, Compensation, & Workforce Diversity: Arcwood offers competitive pay and bonus incentives.
