Job Summary

Perform all types of work involved to service and troubleshoot Company electrical facilities to maintain electric services to customers during regular and non-regular hours, as directed by supervisor. Provide first response to trouble calls; investigate correct and clear trouble, and provide assistance to construction and repair crews, as required.

Residency Requirement: Successful candidate must reside within 25 mile radius of any of the three docks: Haughton, Shreveport or Vivian.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate and/or conduct complex circuit and substation switching and restoration of service resulting from trouble calls.

Investigate trouble calls; patrol and inspect lines; locate, clear and repair faults on lines and equipment. Refuse line and transformer cutouts; repair and adjust street light control equipment; install and remove transformers, meters and services.

Analyze and take corrective action with respect to trouble calls on all types of transmission and distribution circuits and equipment. Use instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and maximeters and record readings.

Independently interface with emergency forces, such as fire and police departments, to accomplish safe trouble call restoration.

Work with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance of facilities.

Communicate effectively with customers and formulate a plan designed to serve their needs as well as the Company's in resolving trouble calls. Inform customer if trouble is located in customer's wiring or equipment; investigate radio and TV interference.

Install, remove, operate and maintain residential, commercial and industrial facilities, both overhead and underground.

Disconnect and connect meters; read in and read out meters.

Operate line switches; operate switches and replace fuses in stations; request, make and accept line and station clearances.

Demonstrate professional and collaborative interactions within the work environment, team members and customers.

Perform similar or less skilled work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education requirements are listed below:

High school diploma or GED

Work Experience requirement listed below:

Minimum of 2 years of work experience as Lineman A or the equivalent experience as determined by the Company

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:

Valid Class A CDL is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Physical demand level is Heavy.

These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc. · A thorough working knowledge of electric industry Distribution and Transmission construction and operation standards, including compatible unit assembly codes and applications. Ability to interpret circuit maps and switching diagrams.  A physical abilities assessment is also required for this position.
