Position Summary:

This position has direct authority for daily operations of the unit/department. This includes responsibilities for processes and activities such as hiring, staff development, performance management and evaluations, disciplinary actions, scheduling. These incumbent leads, manages and evaluates aspects of imaging outcomes, staff resources, productivity, improvement projects and interdisciplinary collaboration for imaging work.
Incumbent will work variable shifts, as needed to complete responsibilities and meet the needs of the imaging area. The supervisor is expected to be involved in direct and indirect patient care related activities up to 20% of the time. This position will assist in identification of goals and has shared responsibility with the Manager or Director for process improvements on the unit/department.
The supervisor serves as a link between team members, upper-level management, and physicians, regarding policies, protocols, procedures, and events. The supervisor is expected to provide direct patient care in their area of modality expertise in accordance with determined departmental business need.
This role has responsibility for activities at one or more locations and as such, are required to respond 24/7 to clinical, business, patient and operational issues that may arise. While not on-site, they are required to be available by pager and cell phone to resolve issues. They may delegate call duties to another Radiology supervisor or manager, always assuring there is a leader supporting radiology hospital operations 24/7. Supervisors are part of the Radiology leadership team and may need to respond to union/contract issues and negotiations. In addition, supervisors lead development and implementation of clinical protocols, interfacing with the Radiologists and other key physicians/stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technologist-training program specific to the modality. The program must be an American Medical Association approved school or other approved school based on modality requirements. Two or more years of health care work experience. Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) certification is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This is a patient care position, therefore, demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients. Demonstrated medium skill level using Microsoft products: Outlook Excel Word Radiology requires significant technological proficiency, including software, hardware, applications, and equipment. Must be proficient with pagers, cell phone, computer, fax, scanner, copier. Proficient in clinical equipment related to area of expertise. Proficient in organizational electronic medical record software and other software applications as required by modality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Previous supervisory experience preferred. Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Additional specialized certification in one of the following Orthopedic Imaging areas is preferred not required.
