Mary Washington Medical Group is recruiting a fellowship-trained critical care surgeon to join our team of five surgeons and nine advanced care practitioners. Our practice encompasses trauma care, elective and emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. We have a diverse case mix involving broad-based general surgery and complex reconstructions of the abdominal wall and G.I. tract.

As a Level II trauma center, we initiate definitive care for all injured patients, including 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgeons and specialists of orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and critical care. Our patients with critical injuries are continually supported and cared for by highly experienced trauma care experts using the latest in life-saving equipment and technology.

 We are handling approximately 700 trauma activations annually (90% blunt), and as a group, we are performing 1200–1500 general surgery cases per year (75% emergency). All the surgeons in our practice are fellowship-trained with added qualifications in surgical critical care.

The Trauma Center team includes surgeons who are board-certified in trauma and who have advanced training and certification in trauma and critical care. Our staff also includes registered nurses and technicians specializing in trauma injuries, radiologists, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists, respiratory therapists, and specialists in neurosurgical, orthopedic, cardiac, and related fields.The trauma center is staffed by in-hospital, board-certified trauma surgeons who are available 24/7 for immediate care. Trauma care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team with advanced training and certification in trauma.
