Transportation Program Worker

Summary

SUMMARY:  Under general supervision, provides round trip transportation for clients enrolled in the Outpatient Psychiatric Program facility. Transportation Program Workers help with patient compliance with treatment for seriously mentally ill adults that would not otherwise be able to arrange transportation to the program themselves. When not driving, this position assists with additional development requests (ADR), documentation for patients’ charts and clinical aide duties.  The incumbent may be requested to assist with transports at Fairmont, John George or Highland hospital for service transports within Behavioral Health Services Strategic Business Unit (SBU) programs/sites. When not driving, this position assists with additional development requests (ADR), documentation for patients’ charts and performs other related duties as required.
 
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification.  However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level.  Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

1. Transports clients to and from inpatient and outpatient programs and to and from appropriate patient facilities and residences.

2. Develops driving schedule based on client’s home location, client’s scheduled attendance day, patient discharge and in patient with medical appoints and program destination depending on client/patient appointment needs.

3. Assists with preparation of ADR’s, including pulling patients’ charts, researching and compiling information.

4. Coordinates lunch for clients including, setup, serving, and clean up.

5. Provides articulate information regarding the clients behavior and ability to relate while driving.

6. Ensures that routine maintenance on vehicle is performed, logs mileage, and that vehicle is clean.

7. Maintains security and safety routines.

8. Follows written and oral instructions from supervision.

9. Becomes familiar with the general characteristics and behavior patterns of mentally ill patients.

10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience: The equivalent of one year full-time work experience involving the operation of a motor vehicle with no moving violations in the past year.
 
Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
 
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid Class B California Driver’s License. 

Required Crisis Prevention Institute training (CPI) for JGP Facility.
