Your role at KIK

 

The Transportation Planner is responsible for managing and optimizing the timely delivery of freight across multiple regions using Oracle Transportation Management System (OTM). They handle load tendering, dispatch, and coordination while overseeing freight operations and mitigating charges such as detention. The role involves leading cross-functional projects, improving processes to reduce costs, and utilizing tools to match available trucks with customer loads. Additionally, the Transportation Planner analyzes key metrics, communicates delivery changes, and ensures carriers meet on-time performance standards. They also support transportation compliance, reporting, and other related tasks.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

Plan, schedule and ensure the timely delivery of the company's freight to a multi-regional geographic area using Oracle Transportation Management System (OTM)Responsible for tendering loads, successful dispatch and pick-up of planned loads and subsequent ownership of loadsProvide cross functional support on transportation related queriesIdentify and lead cross functional projectsIdentify trends to mitigate detention charges and other accessorial charges and seek resolutionIdentify and execute opportunities to improve processes and reduce freight spendUtilize network balance capacity tools to determine location of trucks and available customer loads, tailor planning to meet area needs.Understand daily capacity demand and pro-actively communicate to appropriate leadershipUtilize Network Decision Support tools to assign loads to trucks (OTM, PC Miler) ensuring customers' service requirements are metCommunicate late pickups and/or deliveries, as well as any other load changes, to appropriate department personnel while holding carriers accountable for on time pickup/ deliveryUtilize analytical tools within Oracle Transportation Management and Excel to review key shipment and planning metrics as well as costs to move freight to optimize networkOther duties as assigned, such as transportation compliance audits, KPI reporting, and project support

What You’ll Bring

 

High School Diploma or GED Required; bachelor’s degree preferred3+ years of Transportation experience2+ years’ experience with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and ERPs-JDE E1 and SAP, other transportation management software experience is acceptableStrong proficiency in MS Office, especially ExcelAbility to plan, think ahead, and prepare action plans to achieve resultsManages multiple competing priorities well under pressureKnowledge of US DOT Regulations, Hours of Service, Weight Limitations, US GeographyDemonstrates initiative, self-starter, and a sense of urgencyAbility to handle multiple tasks and details with accuracyGood organization and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsTeam player with a winning attitude
