Highlights of the jobWe are hiring an 8-month temporary Transmission Drafting Technologist position working out of Edmonton, AB. The Transmission Drafting Technologist is accountable for performing computer-aided design and drafting functions related to EDTI Transmission projects. This role is also accountable for the preparation of drawings, including construction drawings and other detailed plan drawings as required by EDTI Transmision. This position is also accountable for processing as-built information for record maintenance with time spans (longest target completion time) of up to 180 days. What you’d be responsible for Providing input to the Transmission Engineering plans and directions.Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics including the production and delivery of IFC prints in alignment with timelines outlined by project schedules, work with Engineering for the completion of “as-built” drawings within 180 days of receipt and Operations on the placement of “as-built” drawings within 60 days of drafting completion.Maintaining the integrity of the engineering design data within the Drawing Management System.Recording and archiving all engineering design and field as-built engineering data in accessible, searchable digital format.Maintaining plotting and scanning equipment and supplies to ensure continuous operation. Creating new documents within the drawing management system, including new master drawings, IFC markup revisions, as-built markup revisions and vendor drawing archives.Preserving document integrity as it undergoes modifications or format changes.Maintaining and adhering to EPCOR’s document control processes and drafting/design standards, including drawing numbering schemes.Reviewing drafting standards and templates and propose relevant changes or assisting with updating standards and processes.Printing and compiling hard copies of IFC and Print Placement packages.Creating, printing and distributing Single Line Diagrams as per EPCOR’s Standard practice.Analyzing and translating information from designers and transcribing the information in a standardized format. What’s required to be successfulSuccessful completion of a post-secondary diploma in Drafting Technology from a recognized technical institute. 4 – 6 years of directly related experience.Strong understanding of electrical terms and electrical schematic symbols.Experience with Document Control Training and Drawing Management Software (ProjectWise) is preferred.
