• Lead/support HTIS (High Time in Service) Quality Projects using DFSS and 8D processes to support aggressive timelines regarding warranty spend and failure rate reduction targets
• Rapidly work through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, Verify including root cause identification and verification
• Evaluate high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems focusing on design related issues or supplier quality or manufacturing defect related issues.
• Analyze warranty data/trends and part returns to identify root causes.
• Identify and verify root causes and implement corrective actions (ICA/PCA) and prevent recurrence.
• Design, execute or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing to identify root cause, replicate quality issues and validate fixes
• Present to management project status and results, interface regularly with quality and core engineers
• Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to resolve quality issues quickly related to warranty and repairs.
• Understand different types of repairs and setting up work plans, following-up and aggressively move to reduce timelines to fix issues
• Lead/attend team meetings.
• Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.
• Proactively follow-through responsible activities along with required documentation to meet the milestones and deliverables.
Skills & Qualifications
• 0-2 years for Entry Level, 2+ for Intermediate OR 5+ years for Advanced level. Demonstrated automotive experience with detail-oriented focus in Powertrain engineering, warranty and manufacturing
• Has experience working with warranty issues, failure model analysis
• Worked in resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.
• Experience working in quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes to support aggressive timelines
• Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking activities
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a relevant discipline
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.50/hr.
