Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC), in partnership with the OHSU Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME), is launching a search for a Transitional Year Residency Program Director. The HMC Transitional Year Residency Program Director is a part-time academic position in the OHSU School of Medicine. The position reports to the Vice Chair of Education in Internal Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer at HMC. The Program Director will lead the 1-year Transitional Year residency program.
Function/Duties of Position The program director must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the Transitional Year ACGME competency areas.Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program, including development of the educational curriculum.Comply with the accreditation guidelines of the Review Committee for Transitional Year of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the sponsoring institutions written policies and procedures.Maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care at Hillsboro Medical Center.The program director with the faculty must establish and maintain an environment of inquiry and scholarship with an active scholarly component.Collaborate with various stakeholders on the development and maintenance of the clinical learning environment.Delegate, mentor, and coordinate tasks among other GME programs at HMC and interface with multiple programs and sites.Set policies to support assessment, advancement and remediation of residents as appropriate.Analyze program data and evaluations (including the annual ACGME survey) to assess trends.Engage in strategic planning and longitudinal improvement projects based on program data.Assist in the support and development of department and hospital committees including graduate medical education committee (GMEC), clinical competency committee (CCC) and program evaluation committee (PEC).Seek out additional educational experiences that will help to expand the footprint of the TY program.Engage at a national level with organizations that support TY program directors such as AHME’s Council for TY Program Directors Required Qualifications Requisite specialty expertise and three years of documented educational and administrative experience in graduate medical education, acceptable to the review committeeCurrent certification in their specialty, or specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review CommitteeMedical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment; Board certification or eligibility requiredMD or DO degreeA minimum of three years of clinical experience in their specialty, with two years as a core faculty member in an ACGME or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency program All are welcome Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
