Transition Risk Analytics Lead – Executive Director

As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you are at the centre of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. You help the firm grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities.  The Climate, Nature and Social Risk Management  team is responsible for developing the firm’s approach to climate- and nature-related risk management, including both transition and physical risks. The candidate in this role will bring strong data, research and communication skills to the team to lead the build-out of transition risk capabilities across the firm. 

As a Transition Risk Analytics Lead - Executive Director within the Climate, Nature, and Social Risk Management team, you will take on a strategic leadership role in risk management, ensuring the organization's resilience and growth. Your deep understanding of climate and nature risk will be crucial in enhancing our comprehensive risk management framework within a challenging timeline. Leveraging your industry and technical expertise, you will conduct thorough research, quantitative analysis, and develop scalable solutions to support firmwide and legal entity approaches. Collaborating with various internal counterparts across the firm, you will gain insights into the potential implications of climate change on a large and global financial institution like JPMorgan Chase. Your role will also involve leading a team, promoting a culture of innovation, and upholding a robust compliance framework.

Job responsibilities

Lead the Climate, Nature and Social Risk transition risk analytical frameworks, with focus on developing methodologies and conducting research on sectoral and corporate climate and nature mitigation transition strategiesLead research on a range of climate and nature related topics that affect the firm’s activities with a good understanding of risk impact on client sectors and productsBe an expert in climate and nature datasets used to manage these risks, forming conclusions on key trends and patterns and working with data providers to maximise our knowledgeBuild, maintain, own and analyse outputs from climate risk assessment models and user toolsLead the drafting and maintenance of documentation for climate and nature risk assessment models and user toolsAddress regulatory expectations and requirements for managing climate- and nature-related riskLead the development of internal climate-nature scenarios used for risk management purposes and collaborate with internal subject matter experts

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Strong university degree (2:1 equivalent or above), in a climate-related or sustainability field, or in economicsWork experience related to climate stress testing, (energy) transition modelling, and/or with sectoral decarbonisation pathwaysQuantitative academic foundationsStrong sense of ownership and demonstrated ability to lead a team in producing deliverables with high standards and within tight deadlines Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly (both written and verbally) to inform and influence senior managementStrong stakeholder management skillsExcellent analytical skills: proficient in statistical modelling (Python) and comfortable working with large datasetsAbility to draft high-impact presentations and documentation, strong attention to detail
