The Owens Corning Rockford IL is a premier manufacturing facility that manufactures extruded polystyrene foam board insulation for primary use in the construction industry.
Non-union plant employing about 70 employees across 4 shifts; Maintenance team consists of 10 employees. SUMMARY
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all Owens Corning employees are expected to conform to the following:

This position works in partnership with plant leadership, TPM pillars, and all workforce teams to develop and execute Training and Development (T&D) plans that drive business results. The candidate will support T&D and AM pillars, create and review SWS, OPLs, and other relevant training documents. This position will track training progress and KAI’s. This position will report on monthly KPI’s and implement strategies for continuous improvement. This is an essential role as the plant seeks to strengthen the skillsets and core competencies of all employees.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Training and Development of Employees Support and track job advancement training Engage in tech level assessments and progression Assist with training new employees in TPM Methodologies Coordinate and plan tech level progression and cross training activity for employees Utilize loss trees to identify, create, and lead training opportunities and improvement events
Training Standards Maintain training records and cross training matrices Support and execute gap closure plans based on skills gap analysis Guide and assist in the development of training and assessment models Gather and report on training metrics and take proactive action on data trends Train employees on the creation of one-point lessons (OPL) and standard work Update, modify, and/or create training materials leveraging input from subject matter experts Create a data driven process to effectively track training, T&D KAIs/KPIs and knowledge gaps
Team Support Participate in continuous improvement events Support TPM teams on implementation of TPM Engage with night shifts and different departments Attend/lead meetings and huddles to support key initiatives Attend TPM Team Meetings and be a visible resource on the floor Shadow the various machines/roles to gain knowledge of plant processes Participate in safety and 5S programs as established within the plant and work areas
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have strong attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Willingness to work flexible hours as needed (days/nights/weekends) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint and Word Ability to read and understand Technical Manuals and Specification Sheets Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a group to meet deadlines Has led projects with define deliverables and met those deliverables on schedule In past work experiences has demonstrated the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on commitments
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent Strong coaching/relationship building skills. Has previous experience conducting training 1-3 years of Manufacturing experience is preferred Prior experience with TPM Methodology and processes preferred 2 years previous experience in training, continuous improvement and/or in creating standard work
