TPS Production Mid-level Metrology Engineer

Leidos, is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem solver to serve as a Metrology Engineer supporting the development of a Thermal Protection System (TPS) as a part of the nation’s leading Hypersonic Production Program conducted within the Advanced Materials Product Group.

As an integral member of the TPS production team, the successful candidate will serve as a Metrology Engineer utilizing the latest inspection and metrology techniques in the development of manufacturing and assembling ceramic, composite, and metallic components into a complex assembly. Candidate will be responsible for evaluating metrology data, documenting methodology used, and presenting results to team members and/or customers. Candidate must be able to apply knowledge of engineering design, GD&T, and manufacturing processes to complex mechanical assemblies.

Primary Responsibilities

Utilize 3D scanning to perform metrology of components and complex assemblies using GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5Effectively communicate results with a team of diverse individualsDevelop documentation to standardized metrology methodsDevelop metrology processes for new systems based on design intent and customer requirements.Develop and implement training for technicians to perform data collectionSupport the Development of metrology processes for new systems based on design intent and customer requirementsDevelop automation processes integration to a manufacturing environment.Perform design of tooling, fixturing, and prototype hardware

Basic Qualifications

Ability to obtain a security clearance at the SECRET levelExperience processing, manipulating, and releasing engineering definition, including 3D data and detailed drawings.BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar with 4-8 years of relevant experience in engineering, production, and mechanical design (or a MS with 2-6 years). 4 additional years of experience required in lieu of degree.Direct experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software and related detail drawingsExperience with metrology methodology and techniques utilizing quality assurance technologies such as coordinate measurement machines or blue light projection scanners.Experience with metrology of complex systems and processing 3D data.

Preferred Qualifications

Active security clearance at the SECRET levelExperience with AS9102 or equivalent inspections involving metrology of complex systemsProficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5Excellent communication skills including preparing reports and present results customersTeam leadership experienceAbility to stay focused and succeed in high-stress, dynamic, and fast-paced environmentsStrong Communication and attention to detailProficiency using Geomagic or GOM software suitesExperience working in a manufacturing environmentDirect experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software and related detail drawingsOriginal Posting Date:2025-02-11

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
