(You can learn more about ushere.) *About this Position * The Destination MT team works to sustain and grow Montana’s economy through tourism development and management, with a focus on rural areas. The programs partner with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and use communications, advertising, and promotional campaigns to showcase Montana and create awareness about the state as a place to visit and do business. Through data-driven strategies and grant programs, the team aims to preserve and promote the genuine character of Montana and partners to achieve a sustainable economic future for all The Tourism Program Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing tourism development and sustainability strategies in coordination with staff, partners, and constituents across the state to ensure viability of the tourism industry in the state. To do this, knowledge of myriad dynamics impacting tourism is necessary. This position will encourage cooperation and support among the Montana business community and industry stakeholders to increase the overall effectiveness of tourism product and infrastructure development, asset promotion and business development activities through a unified effort. * Program development and implementation * Tourism education, outreach, and partnership development * Supervisory duties *Education and Experience: * * A bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or other related field is required * 5 years in upper management * Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. * Experience in the tourism industry preferred *Competencies* *Knowledge of:* * extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts and techniques of travel and tourism, program planning, strategic planning/visionary leadership, and public administration * domestic tourism markets; the Montana travel industry infrastructure and Montana as a travel destination, its cities, towns, rural areas, and attractions; program development and management * large budget management, allocating resources, public administration, personnel management practices and techniques, and assessing program effectiveness * public outreach and collaboration *Ability to:* * bring together various elements of the travel industry to create a saleable product; to plan and coordinate multi-faceted programs; and coordinate development activities on a community scale. * create a strong, positive image of Montana; to establish and maintain effective relationships with private sector business representatives, contracted agents, co-workers, colleagues, and the public * ability to work within changing priorities and heavy workload; to work effectively under deadline pressures; and the ability to work independently of direct supervision * ability to motivate and empower staff *How to apply* Apply online by submitting your resume, and cover letter.
