The Ultra Sonobuoys Systems Tooling Team is looking to add a Tooling Technician. The technician in this role will be responsible for building and integrating tooling, fixturing, and equipment used in the manufacturing of our products. This is a hands-on role that will involve a high level of electro-mechanical assembly practices to help manufacture our products.

We offer a Monday-Thursday schedule with opportunity for OT on Fridays!

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Duties Responsible:Mechanical assembly of fixturing and custom-built equipmentSupports manufacturing equipment throughout the build, test, and implementation stages of the system life cycleProduces simple parts based on the engineering and design drawing requirements meeting time and quality specificationsInterprets drawings, dimensions and tolerances to set up equipmentMaintain and update current manufacturing tooling and equipment as neededSet-up and debug new fixturing and equipmentMust be capable of troubleshooting issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentAbility to operate basic machine shop equipment including but not limited to CNC and manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, saws, brakes and shearsDevelop and design specialized tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and qualityResponsible for staying in compliance with EEO, ADA and all other applicable governmental requirements the company is required to be in compliance with.All staff is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified in work instructions.Performs all other duties as required, requested or needed.

Required Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate must possess the following

Training or degree with minimum 1 year experience or non degreed with 3 years minimum related practical experienceExperience with presses, welding, drilling, grinding, and lathes to create parts within the customer requirementsExperience in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA, is essential. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication, is also importantKnowledge of mechanical, pneumatics, electrical, and automation systemsAbility to integrate and/or modify controls to existing processesAbility to specify PLC and electrical replacement components for industrial machinesAbility to work on many projects simultaneouslyExperience with robotic programmingExperience with PLC controls and wiringProblem-solving capabilityHands-on mechanical aptitude and experience in manufacturing assembly and automationFabrication and basic machining experience

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Experience in related practical machine shopPrior experience in creating wiring schematics
