Job Title: Tooling Design Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Tooling Design Engineer to provide direct support to production manufacturing with technical responsibility for Special Tooling. This role involves creating designs for Forming Dies, Assembly Fixtures, and Inspection Fixtures, housed in TEAMCENTER data management. You will collaborate with various departments, validate tooling parts, and conduct design reviews to update progress.

ResponsibilitiesProvide tooling design techniques to support production manufacturing.Create designs for Forming Dies, Assembly Fixtures, and Inspection Fixtures.Manage tooling data in TEAMCENTER.Collaborate with departments to gather tooling requirements.Walk the production floor to verify details.Work with vendors and outside fabricators to ensure tooling parts are correctly made and delivered on time.Conduct design reviews with the team and customers using PowerPoint.Use and review GD&T.Produce high-level processing experience for tooling design/fabrication, maintenance/repair, and engineering change directives.Develop tooling products, provide tool fabrication quotes, and manage first article development.Handle tool configuration changes, including cost estimation, functional verification, and production implementation.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tooling Engineering, or a related discipline (or 8 years of professional design engineering experience in lieu of a degree).5 years of experience in NX, Teamcenter, and MS Office Suite.Demonstrated experience working with aircraft OEM tooling specifications and procedures.Proficiency in Unigraphics NX or Catia, GD&T, and fixture design.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Siemens NX.Knowledge in tooling engineer - design of forming dies, assembly fixtures, inspection fixtures, and tooling dies.Strong understanding of material and technique application for tooling design and fabrication.Ability to communicate effectively and conduct design reviews.Work Environment

This role is based in a large industrial manufacturing facility with modest office space. You will work in very spacious office cubicles and offices. The production floor is loud and industrial, housing around 30,000 sq ft and 600 employees. The facility is located in Garden Grove, and it is undergoing a transformation to improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and updating software and equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
