The primary role of this position is to design single hit and progressive sheet metal stamping dies utilizing 3D CAD software. Secondary roles will include designing special fixtures, templates and small machines.
Responsibilities Design the following;Progressive pierce and form dies which will include stock strip developmentSingle hit pierce and form dies.Special tools such as robotic weld fixtures, assembly fixtures and drill fixtures.Drilling & routing machinesCustom machine fabrication applications varying in degree of complexity.Rebuild and redesign existing tooling to be upgraded, sometimes with little or no documentation.Develop and work with working sketches.Convert 2D drawings to 3D Solidworks drawings when necessary.Consult and work with tool and die makers, design and production engineers, press operators and assembly line workers as required to ensure proper part and die design criteria is met.Plot drawings, create bill of materials and order materials and commercial items for die and machine projects.Assemble project files for shop distribution and records.Communicate frequently with leadership team and project requesters regarding status of projects.Provide quotes as needed for dies, special machines and fixtures as neededWorking hours: 5:40 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) Qualifications Associates’ degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.One or more years related experience and/or training.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members of organizationsPositive attitude and a team playerProven history of a good work performance, reliability, and attendanceStrong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.Strives for continuous improvement and has a team-based mindsetSelf-motivated, responsible and requires minimal direction.Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently.Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal.Can represent themselves, the department and the company in a professional manner at all times.Ability to work well and effectively communicate with office and factory personnel.We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
