We are currently seeking a Tool Design Engineer located in Fort Worth, Texas. A Tool Design Engineer performs tool design tasks for manufacturing and service applications. Scope of tool types include but is not limited to: Assembly & disassembly jigs, fixtures, and hand tools, machine work-holding devices, CMM fixtures, below-the-hook lifting devices, & inspection tools/gages. Daily responsibilities include interpreting tool requirements, developing tooling concepts, reviewing concepts with internal customers, creating manufacturing models and drawings, monitoring performance, communicating with fabrication personnel to ensure a quality project result, developing work instructions and conducting training sessions as needed.
What You Will Do:
Act as subject matter expert on tooling applications and design to promote quality and safety best practices Determine when it is appropriate to source & purchase tools versus fabricate custom designs in-house. Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance.Generate 3D models and part prints for manufacturing. Maintain engineering database and revision control of tool designs.Participate in business-case preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.Collaborate with cross-functional team to determine priorities and capacity limitationsAble to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as neededDegree Requirement:
Degree in mechanical engineering or material science is preferable, but combination of education and experience may be acceptable.Top Candidates Will Have:
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial ergonomics is desired.Well versed in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.Exposure to manufacturing environment and new product introduction processes.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize task and manage multiple projects effectively.What You Will Have – Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences:

Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

The location for this position is Fort Worth, Texas.Relocation to Fort Worth, Texas is offered.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a minimum 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our office and remote work for the remaining days. Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
