Exercises no supervision. This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason. Work Location 329 S. Frio St. Work Schedule Possible schedules are listed below. + 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. Monday - Friday OR + 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday Essential Job Functions + Removes and replaces worn or defective tires on automobiles, trucks, light and heavy equipment. + Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, and work area. + Removes wheels from vehicle by hand or uses power hoist to repair giant tires of heavy equipment and frequently lifting/carrying of up to 100 pounds. + Locates puncture in tires by visual inspection or water immersion. + Seals puncture or repairs ruptures by using adhesive material, tire patches, or rubber cement. + Operates tire breaking and tire balancing machine. + Picks up, delivers, and repairs tires for all City centers. + Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements + Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. + One (1) year of tire shop attendant experience. Preferred Qualifications + Knowledge of tools and equipment used for tire replacements and repairs. + Knowledge of wheel balancing procedures. + Ability to remove, repair, and replace tires on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment. + Ability to frequently lift and carry 75 pounds.
