Position Summary

Timothy Leaders provide oversight to the Timothy Program members. Timothy Leaders will work closely with the program manager to lead bible studies, activities, and mentor those in the Timothy program. Timothy leaders will also help with camper daily chapels, Sunday services, and give support, training, and guidance to both Timothy members and other staff in the overall effort to promote the spiritual emphasis within the entire summer program.

Essential Functions

Encourage the professional and spiritual growth of the Timothy Program Lead Bible Studies, Activities and Mentor Timothy Program members (all minors at camp). Organize and plan daily chapel services. Coordinate with Program Team to ensure chapels run efficient, organized and smoothly. Schedule weekly staff devotions and coordinate the staffing needs to cover supervisions of campers during this time. Attend and actively participate in staff orientation. Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings. Complete a brief at the end of the summer. Support and enforce overall camp policies and procedures. Conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner likely to bring credit and respect to The Salvation Army and its doctrinal teachings.

Compensation

$380/Weekly

Working Conditions

May be asked to use fire protection equipment, audio visual equipment, special program and recreational equipment. May be asked to drive camp vehicles or golf carts. He/She should be proficient in computer skills and word processing.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years old of age. Ability to exercise confidentiality. Ability to relate to one's peer group. Ability to provide supervision and guidance to peers. Ability to teach large groups of children. Good character, integrity and adaptability, enthusiasm, patience and self-control. Previous counseling experience essential. Current First Aid and CPR certified. Must possess potential leadership skills. Interest in and ability to work with children. Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ and the ability to share the Gospel.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

This position requires the ability to listen to others, observe others’ actions, read text and information; comprehend instructions and manuals, and physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions. Ability to communicate and work with groups and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
