Job Summary:

Marathon Petroleum Company has an opening for a Time & Scheduling Coordinator within the Human Resources Department at the Anacortes Refinery. This position reports to the Human Resources Director and is located in Anacortes, WA. 

This role will provide primary scheduling support to hourly employees, support the HR team, and act as payroll backup at the refinery utilizing Indeavor and Workforce software. The successful candidate will ensure employees are scheduled accurately and paid in accordance with Company pay practices and procedures, legal requirements, and union contracts. 

Key Responsibilities:

Serves as site scheduling and timekeeping subject matter expert, including the coordination of salary timekeeping efforts with other departments.

Coordinates with corporate payroll team to handle biweekly payroll processing, pay adjustments, and implement process changes as necessary while adhering to all timekeeping and scheduling deadlines.

Engages leaders regarding exceptions to employee schedules such as, but not limited to, shift trades, call-ins, callouts, pay code edits, rule violations, and schedule changes.

Works with HR Business Partners to coordinate and facilitate site specific programs such as job bidding, absence control, and fatigue risk management to ensure accurate tracking and administration.

Creates and maintains schedules for personnel (mainly hourly) ensuring compliance with the following: Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) (as applicable), operational guidelines, and MPC pay practice, policies, and procedures. Coordinates timekeeping and scheduling training for new hires and new supervisors as needed.

Provides reporting and research support for various timekeeping, scheduling, and payroll data requests. Performs troubleshooting and assists personnel in the resolution of scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll issues.

Manages timekeeping approval and audit process for hourly employees to ensure accurate payroll in accordance with the CBA (as applicable) and MPC pay practices, policies, and procedures. Maintains confidentiality throughout the entire process.

Keeps current on MPC time and scheduling policies, procedures, and applicable laws ensuring accurate administration.

Additional Responsibilities:

Required to work holidays if payroll closeouts are on a company recognized holiday. 

Supports various human resources functions and performs related administrative duties within assigned areas; contributes to the development of new and improved approaches to various aspects of human resources.  

Provides support with local HR projects and initiatives to include but not limited to recruiting, community relations, and a positive employee experience.

Reviews human resources data, compiles reports and develops information and material.

May administer, monitor, and maintain documentation for assigned site HR programs

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Two (2) years of time keeping, scheduling, record keeping, or relevant experience required.

Experience working with a large, complex payroll involving different pay rules and work schedules that are governed by labor contracts is highly preferred.

Experience using related software such as Workforce and Indeavor, highly preferred.

Previous experience with providing HR support, highly preferred.

Skills:

Self-motivated with the ability to adapt seamlessly to changing priorities and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. 

High level of accuracy and urgency with the ability to prioritize work, work under pressure, and comply with strict deadlines is critical.

Ability to critically think through payroll issues and take initiative to solve the issues.

Team oriented with the ability to clearly communicate and collaborate.

Proficiency in the current Microsoft Office Suite, strong skill in Excel highly preferred.
