Job Summary: Performs all duties related to the preparation, completion, submission (electronic and paper) and collection of insurance claims to all Third Party Carriers.

Minimum Requirements: 

High school graduate.  It is imperative that the employee be thoroughly knowledgeable of the UB92.  Hospital billing forms and is cognizant of the use of the UB92 Manual in reference to understanding and interpretation of claim coding guidelines and requirements.  Must have complete understanding of the 1500 Physician billing form relative to the preparation, coding, and interpretation of information in billing claims.  Must be knowledgeable of the use of CPT-4 and HCPCS coding and modifier usage.  Requires previous experience working with computers, CRTs and printers as we as familiarity of PC application used in electronic claim submission.  Must be knowledgeable of guidelines and requirements for eligibility, coverage and benefits and claim submission practices for all government programs (Medicare, Medicaid and Champus).  Must know basic billing specifications for BCBS and commercial insurance carriers.  Requires at least 2 years' experience in a hospital or medical business office relating to patient account functions.  Requires minimum typing speed of 40WPM.  Must have acceptable skills in use of copiers, calculators and telephone.
