Job Description
naOld Mutual Investment Group is looking for a Thematic Research Analyst for our team. The role involves integrating traditional equity research with long term investment research across macroeconomic, industry and responsible investment themes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a voice of their own, a deep understanding of financial markets and a passion for research.Key result areas
Thematic research. Periodically publish in-house research on key research themes at a country, sector and company level to complement the investment process. These would be long term deep dive pieces into specific themes with the goal of generating investment insights.Company analysis. Fundamental equity analysis and providing investment recommendations. Sector research. Stay up to date on industry trends and regulatory developments.Engagement. Engage with companies and industry bodies to drive sustainable strategies, and to build and maintain relationships with clients, and industry bodies, fostering trust and credibility.Public writing. Contribute to marketing and knowledge sharing initiatives by writing articles, presenting findings and attending conferences’Requirements: skills, qualifications and experience required
Post-graduate qualification in finance, economics, engineering, physics, mathematics, environmental studies or a related field.Advanced degrees (MBA, CFA qualification) would be an advantage.A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in research and financial analysis, with prior exposure to any engineering field, particularly in environmental, oil and gas, or mining sectors.Strong understanding of markets, corporate finance and valuation.Working knowledge of responsible investment frameworks.Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.Strong writing and presenting skills.A passion for research, markets and investments.Competencies
