Responsible for ensuring effective financial governance, controls, oversight, and management of the holding companies in the Netherlands and for the execution of controllership processes and initiatives, driving operational internal controls, process simplification and finance excellence.
The Netherlands Controller provide strategic partnership to the global finance organization (GFO), country, and segments functional teams and business operations to identify and mitigate risks through specialized country knowledge, and successful navigation of local requirements.
The controller will play a key role in actively supporting the Finance Director & Regional Team Controller organize, prepare, and participate in the internal Board of Directors meetings; and ensure timely meeting the Dutch regulatory reporting requirements.
Responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities
Direct responsibility for managing the legal entities in the Netherlands (e.g. Baker Hughes Energy International BV and its Dutch subsidiaries). Collaborate with the relevant functions (Global Administration of Legal Entities Group (GALE), STAT, TAX, Treasury, Legal, etc.) and provide controllership leadership to the establishment and maintenance of appropriate governance.Liaise with various stakeholders including government agencies, banks, and statistical bodies to ensure timely submission of Dutch regulatory reporting requirements (i.e.: CFI benchmarking, Dutch central bank reporting, and future CSRD reporting obligations)Keep abreast of changes in Dutch & international finance regulations that affect the company’s operations.Coordinate with various departments to gather relevant data and insights and prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for the board meetings.Analyze and review the financial performance, to enable taking strategic decisions regarding the participations of the holding company and approval of the annual budgets and financial statements.Partner with country, functional, segments finance and operational teams, and GFO, to achieve excellence of operational & transactional accounting and other regulatory filings requirements, including timely STAT and TAX fillings (act as key in-country liaison with the external auditor)Coordinate the financial accounting, closing & reporting processes; work horizontally with different teams to ensure accurate, timely and insightful financial information.Responsible for balance sheet quality (including timely and quality of account reconciliations), pre-close & balance sheet reviews across all operating Baker Hughes Segments and holding entities in the Netherlands.Interpret and communicate finance and accounting impacts due to changes in local legislation and country requirements. Ensure compliance of all finance activities and documentation within local statutory, US GAAP, Baker Hughes and business practices, policies, and proceduresIdentify and monitor operational challenges to uncover exposures/ risks, or opportunities, and take necessary initiatives to drive timely action. Facilitate and accelerate matters resolution with multiple functions / stakeholders.Responsible for maintaining and strengthening of internal controls, including working closely with the broader team to remedy internal controls matters or resolve any discovered SOX deficiencies. Coordinate internal audits, partner with business and functional owners to drive closure of issues.Operationalize BH policies & procedures to achieve a healthy & consistent controllership environment. Identify & communicate risks on a timely manner, provide support and guidance for operational requirements, and foster cross-functional team interaction to drive action plans.Initiate and drive key simplification and standardization initiatives at the Netherlands level or across the regions (while working closely with the regional controllership network), including finance and systems transformation & continued integration.Undertake ad-hoc projects, lead in country and regional initiatives as required.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance or accounting from an accredited university. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Controllership Management.Expertise in Dutch regulations, reporting requirements, legal entity management and governance.Full professional proficiency in English; proficiency in Dutch is highly desirable.Desired Characteristics
