Product Test Technician, Product Assurance – Colorado Springs, Colorado 

   

What You Will Do:

Precisely perform mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests on door hardware & access control products based on test plans, applicable standards, and customer requirements.

Set-up test equipment according to project orders and test methodsCompetently perform product tests, adhering to all safety requirements and operational proceduresDocument and communicate test results in formal written test reportsDeliver results on-time according to provided priorities and schedulesPerform maintenance, 5S housekeeping, and upkeep of laboratory machines, fixtures, instruments, and facilitiesParticipate in process improvement initiatives, as directedCommunicate effectively, taking direction from Lab Manager and Test EngineersCollaborate and communicate with internal customers from Product EngineeringWork well in a team structure

What You Need to Succeed:

Percentage of Travel: 0 - 5%

Years of Experience: 0 - 2

Preferred Education: 2-year technical degree in an electro-mechanical related field. Alternatively, high school diploma plus 5 years of relevant experience in a technical role, including experience performing product testing.

Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with use of standard hand and power toolsKnowledge of mechanical and electromechanical mechanismsKnowledge of different types of machinery, such as pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical machinesAbility to program or learn to program Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs) and use pneumatic controls to exercise engineering prototype sub-assembliesAbility to comfortably work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentAbility to be detail-oriented and make precise adjustments to testing equipmentAbility to follow basic installation instructionsAbility to use electronic and mechanical measurement equipmentAbility to assemble prototype devices, jigs, and other test fixturesCompetence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including ability to author test reports

Additional Knowledge, Competencies, & Work Experience highly beneficial:

Some limited knowledge of product linesExperience with laboratory or product testingExperience with architectural door hardware, including exposure to BHMA and UL standardsExperience with data acquisition systems (DAQ) or HMI integration

Hours of work required: 40+ hours/week

Physical requirements: Ability to lift 35 lbs., move objects weighing 100 lbs., and use a step ladder

Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, earplugs, goggles, gloves, or other PPE is required in certain areas

Environment Hazards: Working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, and/or some chemicals

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

Expected compensation range: $53,500 - 70,100. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
