Legrand has an exciting opportunity with our Starline team for a Certification & Test Engineer II to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA on a hybrid basis. The primary role of a Test Engineer is to develop and execute certification, verification, and reliability test plans to ensure products meet regulatory, safety, and performance requirements.
What Will You Do?
Lead the development of electrical, mechanical, functional, and certification test plans for new and existing products, working closely with product development teams.Conduct testing required, verifying product performance, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.Maintain ongoing certifications and renewals, including but not limited to UL/ETL Listings, NOM, RETIE, and CCC, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Coordinate logistics for obtaining certifications, including scheduling tests, coordinating with external laboratories, and managing documentation.Support all aspects of external testing and evaluations from RFQ to final report and follow-up.Support quality teams during production audits, conducting periodic audits on critical components and reviewing products to ensure alignment with certification files.Assist technicians in executing test plans, providing guidance, and troubleshooting as needed.Review test reports, analyze results, and provide recommendations for product improvements or modifications.Maintain a log of all testing activities, ensuring reliable information is readily available when needed.Manage internal communication related to certification and testing activities, including coordinating lab schedules and product testing timelines.Support the development of test equipment, maintain existing equipment, and upgrade internal testing capabilities to meet certification requirements.Traveling up to 10% to external test labs to support the certification program is necessary.Perform additional duties as deemed necessary to support the organization's overall goals. QualificationsRequired Skills
Education:
4-year technical degree in engineering or engineering technology.A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional setting.Previous experience working with NRTL or certification bodies a plus.Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution equipment preferred.Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10% of the time.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficiency with electrical theory in DC and three-phase AC power distribution preferred.Exceptional organizational, time management, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Design of Experiments (DOE).Strong analytical skills, troubleshooting, and problem-solving as it relates to engineering testing.Personal Qualities/Behaviors:
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.Regularly required to communicate with others.Able to lift and carry up to 40lbs.Note: The above Job Description is representative of the responsibilities and qualifications necessary to be successful in this role.
