Job Title: Test Engineer

Job Description

This role is for a Test Engineer focusing on the autonomous steering system engineering development team of an in-development autonomous vehicle. The main function of a Test Engineer is to research and investigate the design functionality and maintenance of electromechanical systems. The person should have the ability to interpret specifications and develop/execute appropriate testing methods ensuring the specifications have been implemented as intended.

ResponsibilitiesResearch, design, develop, manufacture, and utilize testing tools including Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test benches and simulations to validate electromechanical system designs.Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to ensure internal requirements meet all customer requirements.Develop and execute test cases that fully cover internal requirements as well as develop test cases that require out-of-the-box thinking to fully validate developing products.Investigate component and system failures and make recommendations to design engineers.Develop and execute in-vehicle testing tools and test cases.Thoroughly document and report test case results using internal reporting tools.25% Participate in meetings, including 2 weekly department meetings, weekly supplier meeting, weekly cybersecurity meeting, and other partner meetings.75% Engage in testing, responding to the team, and documentation of testing and results.Essential SkillsCreativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.Team player and detail-oriented.Familiarity with CAN-FD networks and cybersecurity features such as Secure Onboard Communications (SecOC).Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and schematics.Experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field such as Vector's tool suite (CANoe, CANape, etc), coding languages (Python, MATLAB), and engineering lifecycle management tools (IBM's Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next (ELM)).Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Electrical, or related)Ideally 2-4 years of experience in test engineering, test case development, and automotive engineering; 0-2 years, with relevant engineering internships, or a focused Master's degree in test engineering, may sufficeAdditional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with Data acquisition tools (CAN) is highly desirable.Experience with autonomous and vehicle systems will be a differentiator in qualifications.Comfortable with ambiguity and self-sufficient.Work Environment

You will be working with advanced technologies in the field of autonomous vehicles, focusing on development and validation. The role involves a mix of development and testing, with 25% of your time spent in meetings and 75% in testing and documentation. You will have the opportunity to learn different aspects of the role as the supplier implements new features. The work environment is collaborative and offers a lot of development opportunities. Hybrid schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day remote will be afforded. Occasional work-sponsored travel to a testing facility will be required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
