Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Test Development Engineering Intern located in our Austin, TX site.

Reporting to the Test Development Manager, the intern will work on challenging projects in support of real-time business issues while developing skills and experiences.  The student will be involved in projects that matter to the business and help achieve company goals as well as solving complex test fixtures for customers.

What a typical day looks like:

Works with fellow Mechanical Engineers to help design the mechanical / pneumatic aspects of functional test equipmentCreates fixture drawings and mechanical Bills of MaterialParticipates in the assembly and validation of test fixturesEvaluates and improves on processes and procedures associated with test fixture design using Solid works/AutocadSupports one or more experienced engineers in the performance of assignments, spends time shadowing actual operations, and has unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the engineering departmentParticipates in additional activities/events which will help students build a strong network within the Flex communityAttends team meetings and customer calls as needed

Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:

Currently enrolled Senior level student pursuing undergrad degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related majorEnthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environmentHighly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skillsStrong computer skills with experience in using CAD/related drawing software (Autocad,Solid works, Creo)Microsoft Office SuitePractical machine experience (3D printers, routers, etc), strongly preferredExperience with automation techniques or pneumatic design concepts beneficialPrior Mechanical Engineering internship experience, a plus!

Internship Program Requirements:

Available to start May 27thth and work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignmentCurrently enrolled in 4-year accredited university3.0 minimum GPA
