Overview Telesitter / Nursing Assistant The Telesitter provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies. Job Details Our Telesitters: Demonstrate understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys® TeleSitter® Solution software. Maintain visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Provide appropriate observation to the patient population requiring AvaSys monitoring. Participate in report with on-coming monitor staff when arriving for shift, and upon completion of shift. Reviews pertinent information and behaviors. Provide patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions. Provide floor staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to appropriate staff members. Assist bedside staff in managing patients on Telesitter. Function as a Nursing Assistant when Telesitter is not in service or when directed to meet the needs of the organization. Move about the hospital from unit to unit delivering and setting up Telesitter monitoring equipment as well as rounding on current or potential patients. Demonstrate safe work practice and attitude, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs. Maintain patient dignity and privacy. Requirements: Completion of Nursing Assistant program, BOCES or Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent with current New York State CNA certification or completion of a Nursing fundamentals course or equivalent within a RN program or a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Nursing Assistant. BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers. No online programs from any other organization will be accepted. Capable of continuous visual and auditory monitoring of up to 16 patients on one screen at one time and remains alert at all times while on duty. Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset and with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes. Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff. Ability to climb stairs and move equipment. Ability to fulfill the requirements of a Nursing Assistant. Efficiency in multitasking and ability to prioritize simultaneous situations. Basic computer operation skills and Microsoft experience. Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
