We are looking for a dedicated Telecommunications Specialist PBX like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** The Telecommunication Specialist position staffs two areas of the hospital. The Main Lobby Information Desk where patients, visitors, vendors and guests are greeted. Our role is to determine their needs, and direct them appropriately. The main lobby should present a friendly and helpful atmosphere, while maintaining situational awareness to keep hospital lobby running smoothly. The Telecommunication Office where we act upon all emergency requests, answer, assess, and route all calls to proper destinations. The switchboard works closely with the Security and Facility Departments responding to security alarms, fire alarms, and attack alarms. Both work areas require a vast knowledge of the hospital, staff, physicians, practices, and the numerous tests and procedures we offer. The department maintains the mission of Catholic Medical Center to carry out Christ’s healing ministry by offering health, healing and hope to every individual who seeks our care. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Support Services and the direct oversight of the Manager of Attendant Services, within established Catholic Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures, the Telecommunication Specialist performs the following functions: MAIN LOBBY INFORMATION DESK: + Greets, directs, and assists visitors and patients from the Information Desk. + Maintains positive working relationships with employees, physicians, vendors and the general public. + Operates Spok Console Suite, a PC based software, to assist the patients and visitors with needed information and directions to rooms, tests/procedures, and offices. + Acts as an informational resource regarding all departments and services for Catholic Medical Center and affiliated medical programs. + Works with the Admissions Office to check patients in and direct them to the correct Department. + Works with Security staff assigned to the Main Lobby. + Works with our contracted Valet Service providing information and key retrieval. + Works with Patient Transport Services to assure patients have wheelchair access and assistance. + Maintains the lobby area, promoting a clutter free and clean environment. Assures appropriate PPE is available for the general public. + Contacts Environmental Services and Facilities department for issues with the restrooms, the lobby, and the front entrance of the hospital. + Ensures the confidentiality of all employees, physicians, patients and medical center matters. + Properly disposes of all PHI at the end of each shift. + Participates in assigned role in disaster drills, and other emergency situations. + In addition to following all Department Guidelines, the Position requires following specific guidelines related to the Daily Shift Duties for the Information Desk. + Performs other duties or assignments as directed by the Manager of their designee. TELECOMMUNICATION OFFICE: + Operates Spok Console Suite, a PC based software. + Promptly answers all incoming security, medical and facility emergency calls. + Answers all incoming calls from the general public, patients, physicians, and staff. + Provides the requested information or service by routing the call to the appropriate location as directed by department guidelines. + Utilizes the public address system for emergency notifications and routine announcements. + Assists staff, physicians, and patients in placing outgoing calls. + Maintains awareness of changes to off shift and on call staff, physicians, and other caregivers. + Maintains Telecommunication Office, ensuring that the workspace is clean, empties waste basket, and cleans amenities if soiled during use. + Properly disposes of all PHI at the end of each shift. + Ensures the confidentiality of all employees, physicians, patients and medical center matters. + Keeps current of all Inter-department communications through department, and hospital-wide email, Shift Reports, Operator Notes in Spok Console Suite, memos, hospital publications, and verbal report between shifts from colleagues. + Participates in assigned role in disaster drills, and other emergency situations. + In addition to following all Department Guidelines, the position requires the following of specific guidelines related to the Daily Shift Duties of the Switchboard. + Monitors and takes action with security and facility alarms including: + Signet/Rauland code blue annunciator panel + Zettler code blue annunciator panel + Simplex fire remote annunciator panel + Emergency elevator phones + Beacon Medical Products facility gas alarms + Pelmac security and facility alarms + Pinpoint/Help Alert activations + AiPhone notifications + Call24 remote emergency call boxes + Performs other duties or assignments as directed by the Manager of their designee. **What qualifications you will need:** QUALIFICATIONS: + High school diploma required. + Hospital communications / Call Center experience preferred. + Healthcare experience preferred. + Experience in business or health care setting involving customer-service responsibilities; broad knowledge base of functions of various health care departments preferred. + Basic operation of computer systems, telephone systems, Windows OS, and MS Office.
