Summary ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable. This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Camp Roberts, California. Responsibilities Serves as the Teleport Operations Director of U.S. Army Signal Activity (USASA)- Camp Roberts, 302d Signal Battalion. Responsible for daily operations, short and long-range communications planning, and coordinating, directing, and reviewing a myriad of work functions of telecommunications facilities The incumbent will exercise operational control and technical supervision for 125+ current and future Teleport personnel engaged in the overall operation of multi-shift, 24/7 telecommunications facilities, and supporting infrastructure. Provides direction to Teleport personnel responsible for status reporting of U.S. Army Signal Activity-Roberts Teleport facilities located on the SATCOM station. Information movement through activation and deactivation, operational analysis, technical testing and troubleshooting, configuration, modification, and development of integrated defense communications systems, networks, circuitry, and facilities. Information is moved via electronic services such as secure and non-secure highspeed digital data transmission, government and commercial satellite services, long-haul military, and commercial voice, video, data, and computer network systems. Incumbent specializes in the planning and projections involved in the development, testing, installation, implementation, control and coordination of telecommunications programs, communications equipment, systems, services, and transmission media. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by experience recommending methods for enhancing the efficiency of telecommunication systems; assisting in identifying or arranging telecommunication systems training needs for personnel; and experience supervising the operation of various telecommunications systems Education Additional Information If you are a current federal career/career-conditional employee, you will be placed on an excepted appointment. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Due to the essential nature of this position, the incumbent cannot be a Ready Reservist, National Guardsman, or Military Retiree with recall obligations. This position MAY be eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework". Advanced in Hire may be authorized.
