Job Title: Telecom Lead
Role Purpose
As the Telecom Lead for the Project, you will oversee all telecom-related activities during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the new riser platform, jacket, and bridge. You’ll work closely with EPCIC contractors both onshore and offshore to ensure smooth execution and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation Phase Review contractor documents such as shop drawings, installation procedures, system acceptance testing (SAT) plans, and technical databases. Ensure readiness for commissioning (RFC) and verify the accuracy of operational test procedures (OTPs). Coordinate preservation plans before TOM and first oil phases. Make sure all required tools, spares, and consumables are available ahead of time. Execution Phase Supervise telecom construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning at fabrication yards and offshore at Al-Shaheen. Manage the Company’s Telecom Supervisor team for both onshore and offshore activities. Ensure compliance with ICAPS (Integrated Commissioning and Progress System) and OPERCOM methodologies. Track progress, mark-up redline drawings, and ensure proper documentation. Oversee vendor activities like SATs, punch list closure, and final reporting. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Promote and enforce HSE standards on site. Report and intervene in case of safety risks or non-compliance. Lead by example and ensure the team follows safety policies. Project Context Develop a new riser platform connected to an existing platform, supporting 9 wellhead platforms (WHPs). Interface with subsea pipelines and fiber optic cable systems. Manage telecom work across multiple global locations: engineering in Mumbai, fabrication in Oman (Sohar), and installation in Qatar (Al-Shaheen field). Navigate complex brownfield integration and coordination with multiple NOC departments.
Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. Experience: 15+ years in offshore oil & gas. Minimum 10 years in a supervisory or lead telecom role. Skills: Strong leadership and communication. Experience with ICAPS, OPERCOM, and NOC/Total standards. Comfortable working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. Proficient in English and computer systems. Willing to travel internationally for site and factory visits. Certifications: H2S OPITO and T-BOSIET.
