Technologist Trainee for Molecular Micro

If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Technologist Trainee in our Molecular Microbiology lab located in Burlington, NC!

In this position, you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment. Assays performed in the Molecular Microbiology area include Qualitative and Quantitative PCR, with the overall goal of providing results that can be used for the diagnosis and management of a wide range of infections using real-time PCR detection of nucleic acid.

The work schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 2:00pm-10:30pm. Position eligible for 10% shift differential due to 2nd shift hours.

Job Duties:

Evaluate specimens and test order; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around-time; recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriatelyPerform testing on biological samples, quality control samples and proficiency samples making measurements and calculationsMaintain and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled and as needed maintenance and critical function; trouble shoot as indicatedEvaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors and unusual results; interpret results to produce a final reportMake controls, such as, Internal, Positive or Negative Controls and etc.Manage the movement of materials/samples that are being processedThe ability to cross train on multiple assaysThe ability to create an effective workflow with effective time management is crucial

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, medical technology or a related science requiredPrevious experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee levelAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plusHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screenFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
