Basic Job Functions:

First Solar has a long-standing leadership position in photovoltaic recycling. In 2005 we established the industry’s first voluntary global prefunded module recycling program and are the only PV manufacturer capable of offering global PV recycling services for their products. Our state-of-the-art recycling facilities are operated in the USA, Germany, and Malaysia. For the recycling of photovoltaic modules in the geographical area EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), the recycling of modules is taken over at the established recycling location Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany. The main task/responsibility of the Technicians, Recycling Operations, is to perform the day-to-day operational business task of the processes the local recycling process at the Frankfurt Oder location.

Education/Experience:

professional technical education or comparable education with several additional experience in related fields (waste/wastewater/recycling) 3 - 5 years practical job experience Experience in handling of forklifts would be an advantage (driver license)

Required Skills/Competencies:

Outstanding service orientation, team spirit and operational readiness Self-employed, organized, motivated and hands-on work mentality.  Basic computer skills and experience (MS Office, electronical waste management systems) Skills and experience in recycling activities of glass and/or metal recovery or equivalent systems  ability of driving forklifts Operating / maintaining systems Good communication skills (oral and written) in German and English Experience in handling of forklifts would be an advantage (driver license)

Essential Responsibilities:

Self-employed performance of all operational processes of the recycling process First Solar, from the receiving of recycling material over storage, the system compatible recycling of material up release of the output materials Self-employed operation and maintenance of waste-related tasks and systems (electronic waste management system) Handling of process-specific, hazardous, and non-hazardous chemicals and wastes Data collection and evaluation in the context of internal and external reporting obligations Self-employed operation of the recycling plant and related parts/systems Self-employed operation and maintenance of parts, machines and systems of the recycling plant and associate parts incl. documentation and report of operational data Self-employed operation and maintenance of the associate chemical lab (sampling, sample analysis and preparation, analytical method development and integration; analysis, documentation, and report of measured data) Support and assist internal and external functions/fields of activity (reports, job hazardous analysis, work instructions, service and maintenance plans, audits, continuous improvement) development and implementation of process specific projects for process improvements Active participation in process changes and improvements for efficient and timely implementation Responsible for effective communication in service team Comply with all workplace health and safety policies. Furthermore, the associate is committed to following the instructions of his/her supervisor on top of the here listed tasks, which are similar to his/her position or will be operational necessary. Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift. Will climb stairs on an occasional basis. Will lift, push, or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis. 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis. The ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards). All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
