Marzetti makes a multitude of specialty food products that you have probably eaten without even realizing it! This position contributes to the overall manufacturing environment by completing preventative maintenance, completing and participating in projects to increase overall equipment efficiency, being able to troubleshoot general mechanical and electrical issues on production lines including conveyors and packaging equipment. The Maintenance Technician will also engage with operators and the plant management team to develop and execute process improvement initiatives! Responsibilities SAFETY: Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards. Proper use of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields & and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility. Performs proper housekeeping of maintenance area. Performs daily inspection of equipment with proper documentation. Performs lock out tag out as necessary. QUALITY: Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food and equipment safety and efficient productivity. Performs all required inspections of equipment and products per specification with proper documentation. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. TEAMWORK: Effectively communicates verbally and written with Team Members and Management. Works respectfully with all team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support of our products and goals on a daily basis. Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with suggestions of improvement/resolutions. FUNCTIONS: Conducting and completing scheduled preventative maintenance to maintain equipment efficiency. Knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (SAP preferred). Disassemble and assemble equipment for new installation and repair existing equipment. Assist operators in mechanical and electrical capacities to ensure production lines remain operational. Servicing and maintaining equipment including motors, conveying systems, transmission systems, and production related equipment. Knowledge of using human machine interfaces to ensure equipment is operating on center lines. Ability to convert production lines to produce various products of different sizes materials. Properly troubleshoot and maintain glue and adhesive systems on packaging equipment. Know the function and be able to troubleshoot photo eyes, sensors, and pressure switches. Properly wire 120 to 240-volt single phase and 480-volt three phase circuitry. Be familiar with boiler operations. Familiarity with industrial maintenance equipment (drills, saws, pipe cutters, etc.) Provide maintenance support required to sustain continuous production on the Food Service line. Lubricate all machinery with the proper lubricants. Change drive belts, timing belts, etc., on all machinery. When possible, identify problems before they result in a hazard or downtime situations. Maintain water towers and test water. Operate air compressor and change filters and oils. Change packing and gaskets in all pumps. Operate roof heaters and air conditioners. Identify and replace bearings and seals as required. Perform Other Duties as Assigned Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to prioritize tasks Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Must have a general working knowledge and/or the aptitude and ability to learn electrical, mechanical, electronic and hydraulic principles to the degree the machine operation is understood. Must be able to perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately. Must have ability and knowledge to be able to convert verbal directions to operating functions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous industrial maintenance experience required Employees are required to take an aptitude test to show their skills/knowledge obtained from on the job training. Competencies General Mechanical Skills Have proper hand tools and use them in the proper manner. Upon obtaining necessary certifications and qualifications know how to operate lift trucks and scissor lift. Know how to determine and apply the proper fuels and lubricants. Maintain proper sanitation of equipment. Accurately maintain all required records. Line Operation Properly set-up all production lines. Convert the production lines to the various sizes. Properly change glue and soap drums. Know the function of micro-switches and photocells. Facility Maintenance Properly wire 120 and 240 volt phase circuitry. Execute start-up and shut-down procedures for boiler. Welding. Ability to use shop equipment (drills, saws, pipe cutters, etc.). Working Conditions/Environment Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry that weight up to 25 feet at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks.  May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.  The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.  Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
