MET LAB TECHNICIAN

THE MET LAB TECHNICIAN WILL . . .

Prepare samples for analysis/examination and carries out a range of moderately complex metallurgical services.Understand all equipment in the area but operates only a limited amount of general equipment with moderate supervision.Perform various mechanical tests on general equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc.Perform various metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment, and general metallographic equipment.Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation.Record test piece results in the mainframe with moderate supervision.Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MET LAB TECHNICIAN

High School Diploma required.1+ years of relevant experience.Preferred: Metallographic microscope experience, materials science backgroundWorking knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.Working knowledge of metallurgical/laboratory equipment.Ability to solve a range of problems by using standard procedures and/or processes.Customer focused and responds to customer needs; seeks guidance on issues outside own area.Team oriented and works with others within own area or department to achieve goals through expanded knowledge and skills.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.Ability to perform work of a diversified and more complex nature.Ability to operate general metallurgical/laboratory equipment.Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.Ability to work with moderate supervision.Verbal and written communication skills
