Waste Pro's Diesel Technician Apprentice Program

We have Opportunities available for Students enrolled in a Diesel Technician Program to join our team and participate in the Waste Pro Diesel Technician Apprentice Program.

Who is Eligible?:

Students who are enrolled at a Technical School who have completed 6 months of their selected program. A transcript of completed courses should be provided during the interview process.

Schedule:

Monday -- Saturday 25+/- Hours Per Week

Tool Kit Provisions:

Waste Pro will provide a starter tool kit for Diesel Technician Interns to use while they are working at Waste Pro. The starter tool kit will be purchased by Waste Pro and will have a value of $1,500.00. After one year of service, Waste Pro will purchase additional $2,000.00 worth of tools for the Diesel Technician Intern. If after graduation the Diesel Technician Intern stays with Waste Pro for two years, they will receive an additional $1,500.00 worth of tools and the tool box will be theirs to keep!

Tool Allowance:

Waste Pro Diesel Technician Interns will be eligible for the Tool Allowance Bonus Program starting Day 1!

$50.00 / Month : Year 1 $65.00 / Month : Year 2 - 5 $85.00 / Month : 6+ Years

ASE Certification Reward Program:

Waste Pro Maintenance Technicians who have or are working towards completing their Medium-Heavy Truck ASE Certification are eligible to receive pay increases, bonuses and reimbursement for the ASE Certifications as outlined below and on the next page:

Technicians will receive a $.50 per hour pay increase for each certification level attained. Technicians who attain their ASE Master Technician certification will receive a $1.00 per hour increase in their pay. Technicians will receive a $1,000 one-time bonus for having all 7 certifications Technicians will be paid $150 bonus for each ASE Certification - recertified. Programs are recertified every five years.

Additional Benefit:

$200 boot voucher per year to use at a participating boot vendor.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Knowledge and ability to perform Preventative Maintenance services with general knowledge related to heavy duty and light duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel and CNG Systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Aid/assist drivers in completion of the daily Post trip and vehicle safety inspection process
2. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment during Safety Lane and PM's.
3. Complete lubrication and repair of lubrication points on vehicles as assigned on the daily schedule
4. Ability to learn and utilize brake inspection procedures and complete documentation daily
5. Perform basic repairs and maintenance on Heavy Duty Equipment, including but not limited to Rear Load, Front Load, Roll Off, Grapple, Port-a-let, and other service type trucks including chassis and body.
6. Communication with A & B technicians /drivers as to issues with vehicles and discusses preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs.
7. Completes all required paperwork / computer data entry, including documenting parts usage and time in and out on repair orders, in a timely and concise manner.
8. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards which may include sweeping, organizing and maintaining the shop and grounds areas.
9. Conducts repairs utilizing Factory Service Manuals.
10. Maintain high standard of Ethics and Dependability.
11. Follows all safety policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ability to assist drivers with Pre/Post trip process
* Ability to identify visible repairs required on vehicles: lights, mirrors, leaks, body damage etc.
* Ability to assist/complete fluid top up on vehicles including oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluid, DEF fluid
* Knowledge of tire inspections and air pressure adjustments
* Ability to support technicians in repair of lights, wipers, mirrors.
* Ability to understand and use lubrication charts for waste trucks
* Ability to lubricate components on trucks as scheduled (training provided)
* Ability to assist technicians in the repair of basic engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to Heavy Duty and Light Duty Trucks.
* Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
* Basic computer skills as required.
